Jason moved to Montana in the early 2000’s after visiting the area with his brother. He settled in Kalispell and founded his construction business doing finish carpentry in many of the valley’s finest homes. Finish carpentry led to remodeling and then the opportunity came to build a new home.
While Jason enjoyed the challenges a remodel presented, building new homes was an exciting new chapter for his growing construction firm. His background in finish carpentry developed a good eye for the details, and the remodeling work proved Jason to be a great problem solver! This background has shaped the values of the business as it’s grown over the years.
Jason met his wife, Jocelyn, after moving to Montana. They have two children and enjoy spending time with them skiing and boating.
Jocelyn is a Montana native, born in Havre and growing up along the high line. She moved to the Flathead Valley in the mid 90’s before attending the University of Montana. With a degree in Business Management, Jocelyn keeps the office in order. She’s also very involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Kalispell Downtown Association.
Jocelyn is a mother of two, an avid skier, and enjoys time on the lake in the summer.
Lance has an unconventional background for the construction industry. Having spent much of his life in the publishing industry he has worked with scuba diving magazines and newspapers. His position as the General Manager for the Flathead Beacon is what brought him to the Flathead Valley from Vail, Colorado in 2009.
J Martin Builders is a community involved company and Lance has led our mission to give back as much as possible. Over the years Lance has been involved with a multitude of charity fundraisers and is on the board of directors of many of those non-profit organizations. See our Community Involvement page to see all the ways J. Martin has been involved in the Flathead Valley.
Lance has been married to his wife, Melissa, for 23 years and they have four children, ages 16, 14, 12 and 7. They live in a log home in Somers that was featured on the HGTV show Log Cabin Living in 2013. If you don’t see the Fahrney’s on the ski hill in the winter, you can find them doing something on or near water in the summer.
Originally from Ohio, Melissa escaped the Midwest and moved to Montana in 2002. Melissa and her husband, George, have two daughters ages 5 & 2 and live on Flathead Lake in Lakeside. On winter weekends you can find Melissa skiing with the family in Whitefish. In the summer months she enjoys mountain and road biking, camping and chasing her kids.
Prior to joining the J Martin team, Melissa was in the cabinetry & countertop business where she was a kitchen designer for over 13 years. Having managed 200+ kitchen projects every year she brings a wealth of experience to J Martin Builders as project manager.
Melissa has a passion for homes, design and building in general. She and George plan to build their own home some day.
